Farewell to the Twenty-Teens

This marks my final blog entry of 2019. What a huge year it has been: I quit my job of over 10 years to pursue acting & comedy in a new city, I've lost & I've loved, I tried new things that scared me & I've learned so much about myself, the world, & my new career in the performing arts. I'm so excited to see what the new year holds & I plan to start 2020 off strong with some SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, & Time-based).  Some of the goals below are based on important values that I hold such as physical, mental, &/or financial health. Others are based on furthering my career as a writer, improvisor, & actor.

Goals for 2020

  1. Do Not Drink Any Alcohol: My first goal is pretty straight forward as I think it's important for me personally to avoid alcohol, I am recommitting to my promise of sobriety.
  2. Pay down my Student Debt on time every month: Each month, I'll pay my minimum balances & do my best to pay down my debts further whenever possible.
  3. 20 Books/Audiobooks: I will absorb at least 2 books per month to attain this goal.
  4. 20 fitness classes: I will attend at least 2 fitness classes (yoga, zumba, etc.) each month to attain this goal.
  5. Complete Second City’s Conservatory Program: Level 2 (Jan. - Feb.), Audition for level 3 & take Level 3 (March - April), Level 4 (May - June), Level 5 (July - Aug.), Level 6 (Sept.-Oct.)
  6. 52 episodes of the Pish Tosh Podcast: I will commit to scheduling interviews, recording, marketing, hosting, editing, & publishing 52 podcasts. That's one podcast every single Tuesday of the year. This may be a difficult goal to achieve yet it is very important to me to develop this medium & create a successful show that builds other performers up while entertaining & educating listeners.
  7. 20 auditions: I will audition for at least 2 acting projects I'm interested in each month.
  8. 20 min. Of stand-up (total): This could mean four 5-minute sets or two 10-minute sets at open mic nights, for shows, etc. I must complete the first 5-minutes by April, the second by July, the third by October, & the final 5-minutes by the end of the year. If I complete sooner, even better, yet the first 10 minutes must be complete by July (mid-year).
  9. Publish my book trilogy: This is another lofty goal yet, below remaining sober, it is the most important to me to achieve. I'd like to try to have the first book edited & illustrated by March 2020, the second written, edited, & illustrated by June, & the 3rd & final book written, edited, & illustrated by August. I can then start the process of formatting, publication & promotion.
  10. Create a Professional Acting Reel to represent my abilities by November.

I hope you have enjoyed my blogging experiment this year, I have certainly enjoyed the ability to reflect & share that this medium has afforded me.
I certainly do not believe this is my last blog entry ever yet it is my final of 2019.

In closing, thank you to anyone who has taken the time to read any of my blog entries & I hope you come back to visit this website to keep up-to-date with my upcoming performances, new songs, products, artwork, & soon, to grab your copy of The Octopus Ink.
